I'd like to dedicate this topic to discussing the books you enjoy, how often you read (because I believe it is very important to read), your writing triumphs, failures and struggles and anything else that may come to mind.

Personally, I've been on a Star Trek: The Key Collection kick. As for novels, though, I am finishing up World War Z by Max Brooks and then I plan on moving on to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick, The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham, Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut and whatever else I happen to stumble upon.

Please feel free to post what you're reading or plan on reading. All I ask if that you ping me so I do not skip your replies.

((Also, Half Price Books is having a contest to win a $100 HPB gift card if you enter a picture of your bookshelf. If there is anyone here that is participating, I would really love to see your collections.))

I'm almost finished with Notes to Boys: And Other Things I Shouldn't Share in Public (Pamela Ribon)

I thought Notes to Boys looked interesting. Is it written in the actual notes to make one big story or...? I love books like that. Like World War Z, which I finished. I loved that it was written in interviews with all kinds of people. I especially liked the ending but I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it.

How is The Big Year? It definitely is right up your alley. I hope you're enjoying it.

What were/are your guys's favorite parts?

I'm really excited to start reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I like reading about post-nuclear war scenarios.

As for writing, I'm almost finished with Akimichi's pet story. Then I'll move on to Rysair's. I'm thinking about just reorganizing it and having it explain his situation first and then going back and describing how he got there. It's getting too long and I think that will shorten it up and allow me to give a voice to the character and make it feel more personal.

"Notes to Boys" is chronological and, for the most part, has her original teenaged notes un-edited. Then grown up Pam has her comments interspersed throughout (to very funny effect). It makes me very glad that none of my writings from that age have survived! I highly recommend it (though it does get a bit graphic at times, as long as you're cool with that)
